Arrow Pennsylvania is Now Licensed for Adoptions
Arrow Child & Family Ministries recently received a license to facilitate both private adoptions and public adoptions through the child welfare system in Pennsylvania. This will allow Arrow to develop a new adoption program in addition to the existing foster care program we've had in Pennsylvania since June 2006.
"Our goal has always been for foster children in our care to be in a permanent home," says Melinda Shea, Program Director. "When foster children can't be reunited with their biological family, we are now able to provide them with an adoptive home that will always be there for them. In comparison to other adoption processes, adopting with us through the child welfare system is much easier with little or no cost to the adoptive parents."
This Pennsylvania adoption license will allow Arrow to train and approve adoptive families, complete profiles on children available for adoption, "match" families and children, and facilitate visitations and the child's eventual move in. We are also able to facilitate the legal proceedings associated with the adoption process, including the report to the courts and helping to obtain subsidies for adoptive families who adopt older children, sibling groups, minority groups, and children with developmental or physical delays.
Arrow is reaching out to local churches in Pennsylvania to help find adoptive families for children in foster care and to develop local ministry efforts that would train other church families to offer support and encouragement to foster/adopt families in their own congregations.
