The Woodlands United Methodist Church Cleans The Arrow Retreat Center, North of Houston
Approximately 100 members, representing 33 families, of The Woodlands United Methodist Church gave up a large part of their spring break to clean up and make repairs at The Arrow Retreat Center, our own camp facilities just north of Houston. Their extraordinary efforts helped prepare the grounds and buildings for the over 200 foster children who are expected to fill the 110 acres with joy during four weeks of summer camp hosted by The Woodlands United Methodist Church.
Moms, dads and kids from the church cleaned over 16,000 sq. ft. of buildings; cleaned gutters; washed and organized dozens and dozens of towels and sheets; racked and filled hundreds of bags of leaves and limbs; repaired bikes; organized the kitchen, office, first aid center, and recreation supplies; power washed the docks, outdoor furniture and sidewalks; repaired and painted cabins and weatherproofed docks.
"I was a little overwhelmed today when I went out to the retreat center," said Scott Kidd, VP of Church & Community Alliances. "It is simply amazing to see what they have done and the shape the camp is getting into after hurricane Ike."
If your church or civic group would like to take on a service project to benefit the children and families served by Arrow Child & Family Ministries, or if your group would like information on how you can use these facilities for your own event, please contact Scott Kidd at 281/210.1524 or email Scott.
