The Benefits

As a foster parent, you will experience many challenges and some difficult days – but most parents find that the joy of seeing their foster children push through their own pain and anger far outweights it. As your foster child moves through their own difficult emotions, he will look to you for love and support, and become more and more a part of your family. Many of our foster parents are still “home base” to the children they fostered, and welcome them back home for holidays and summer vacations even after they’ve reached adulthood.
Arrow provides on-going comprehensive support services to our foster parents. We will prepare you for fostering during our pre-service training, Ambassador Family Initiative, and provide on-going training to assist you in working with the special needs of your foster children. An Arrow case manager will visit you and your foster children regularly to guide and support you. You will have immediate access to an on-all case manager for after-hours emergencies. You can also come to foster parent support groups where you can talk with other parents about your experiences and find additional emotional support.
Financially, you will receive free medical care and therapy for your foster child. You will also receive a daily reimbursement to help pay for the additional living expenses you incur as part of caring for your foster child.
