This two day event will engage local churches and government to address the foster care crisis in Alaska.  Experts in their field will present solutions as together we:

  • Learn about the state and local Child Welfare System
  • Define the presenting issues surrounding foster care
  • Consider church-centered foster care ministries to recruit and support foster and adoptive families
  • Discuss systems and resources to support at-risk families and foster children in your community

Thursday, November 6th, we’ll be sharing how Anchorage churches can collaborate to help children and strengthen families in their own communities.

Friday, November 7th, a series of sessions will be available in specialized tracks for church leadership, social work professionals, and foster families.  Topics will include trauma services, foster care training and community healing.

Keynote Speakers:

Karen-BergstromDr. Karen Bergstrom with Safe Families for Children shares this groundbreaking program, that provides a positive alternative to the child welfare system.
Michael OleskaRev. Dr. Michael James Oleska a nationally recognized speaker and well known for his widely acclaimed four-part PBS television series, “Communicating Across Cultures.”
