Overview

From being a foster child rescued from abuse, to coming to know the unconditional love of a Christian foster family, to fulfilling God’s purpose for his life by founding and leading Arrow Child & Family Ministries…the journey of Mark Tennant continues to offer hope and healing for children and families through our many ministry programs.

Since beginning in 1992 with foster care, new services and programs have continued to develop and expand as we fulfill our mission of helping kids and strengthening families. We are grateful to have been used by God in the past to change lives, but we are even more excited and humbled by what He will accomplish through our ministry in the future.

The Tuohy family, from the movie The Blind Side,
raises awareness for Arrow foster care and adoption

Arrow partnered with Woodlands Church - Fellowship Campus to bring the Tuohy family to The Woodlands, Texas to share their story during the church's Wednesday evening service on March 3rd. The 4,000 capacity auditorium was completely filled and an overflow room was necessary to accommodate the large crowd. Prior to the service, Michael Oher and the Tuohys were able to personally visit with the church's students in a separate student facility where they would be watching the evening's activities remotely on a large screen.

Pastor Kerry Shook moderated a discussion with Leigh Anne Tuohy, Collins Tuohy and Michael Oher, whose lives were portrayed in the Oscar nominated movie The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock. Leigh Anne Tuohy summarized the need for more foster and adoptive parents, "All these kids need is love and an opportunity." She pointed out that all Michael Oher needed was the love and support of a family to create opportunities for him, which eventually led him to play right offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.

Our Ambassador Luncheon was held the next day in Houston at the Intercontinental Hotel - Galleria, with approximately 700 attendees and the event raised approximately $250,000 to support our ministry. Guests were treated to a similar conversation between the Tuohys, Michael Oher and Debra Duncan, host of the local television program, Great Day Houston. Arrow foster/adopt parents Cheryl and Gabe Villarreal, who have adopted seven children ages 12 months to 16 years, were recognized as Arrow's Ambassador of Purpose award recipients for 2010. The family was surprised when Arrow CEO, Mark Tennant shared with the audience that the furniture on the stage, which was donated by local furniture retailer Gallery Furniture, was being given to the Villarreal family.

Michael Oher framed the need for more families to become involved as foster/adopt parents when he said, "There's tons of kids out there who just need people to reach out to them." Find out how you can make a difference in the life of a child just like the Tuohy's did for Michael. Click here to request more information.
