Aging Out
No child is fully prepared at age 18 to live on their own. For child victims of abuse and neglect who have spent years in the foster care system, who statistically do not have high school diplomas, have no transportation, no housing, no family support, no job training, and no adequate income, leaving foster care can be devastating. The Michael Reagan Center is committed to:
- Be a voice for these children;
- Document needs, and identify and support practical solutions at federal, state, and local levels;
- Research and develop means to overcome barriers to effective solutions;
- Be a resource for communities and churches attempting to address needs in their local areas; and
- Support quality legislation addressing aging-out issues.
